We think of the amazing sights that the world has to provide when we think of travel. We think of the vibrant, diverse people who live in every city. Or maybe you consider the many ways to push ourselves out of our comfort zones that can lead to immense personal growth.
However, when we think of travel, we often forget about the health implications.
It’s true that we often neglect our mental and physical health while jet-setting around the globe. We want to experience everything a place has, whether it’s unique food or a day in a beer garden.
Our motto is “Doing the right thing, at the right place”. We wake up after months of travel and find that our legs aren’t as strong as they once were. Our pants are too tight and we feel unmotivated.
It doesn’t have to be a hindrance to your healthy lifestyle. With the right mindset, clear goals, and the right attitude, travel can be the catalyst you need to get back to your groove.
The humidity around us should be between 40-70% and 20% in an airplane cabin. Dryness can cause discomfort and make you more susceptible to infection. How can you get rid of this dryness?
Take plenty of liquids with you on the flight, preferably water. Avoid tea, coffee, and alcohol. Do not worry if it takes you a while to get to the lavatory. It’s good exercise! Once you get there, what do you do? Continue to drink water Keep drinking water! If you exercise, this number should be even greater!
Eat healthy food
Preparing for travel is always very hard. You have to take care of a lot of things beforehand. One of the problems is what to eat once you get to your destination. Healthy travel is about making healthy choices. This includes choosing the right food when dining out. Choose fresh, seasonal options whenever possible.

Both alcohol and sweetened non-alcoholic drinks are high in calories. Drink water to keep your sugar intake and calories down. Alcohol can also disrupt your sleep. You may be away from work and enjoy a few drinks on vacation. The key is to drink in moderation.
While it can be tempting to indulge while on vacation, extra desserts and drinks can cause unwanted weight gain and disrupted sleep. Be safe and only consume alcohol and sugar in moderation.
Do some exercise
You might be the kind of person who prefers to spend a day on the beach or poolside and skips the museum tour. Make sure to include some exercise in your daily routine. You don’t have to go to the gym, but you can walk for 15 minutes around the town or take a swim.
Every destination has its own natural attractions that you can use. It’s not a form of exercise. Instead, it is a way to explore the places you live. You will feel refreshed, energized, and healthier if you incorporate a little exercise into your day.
Set manageable goals
You don’t have to be a “workout” person. Instead, set realistic goals that will allow you to stay fit while on the road. Instead of staring at your computer at 5 p.m., and wondering if you’ve moved in hours, make it a goal to walk 10,000 steps each day.
You could walk 10,000 steps to reach a new area or a gelato shop hidden behind buildings that you pass every day. You deserve a scoop after walking so far.
Take your vitamins
Vitamins C and D can boost your immune system to fight off viruses. You can keep your immune system strong by eating a healthy diet and supplementing with multivitamins.
You shouldn’t compromise your healthy eating habits when you travel. To boost your immunity, you can add green vegetables, citrus fruits, egg yolks, salmon, tuna, and other vitamin D-rich foods to your diet.
Walk or Bike Whenever Possible
You can explore the city during your daily downtime.
Avoid relying on taxis, buses, and trains for your hotel reservations. You can travel on foot if you are up for it.
You can book a room close to your destination, and within walking distance of public transport. Rent a bike if you are visiting New York City or Philadelphia.
If you live within ten blocks of a safe area, always walk or cycle!
Manage your stress reduction
Some people find that walking into an airport increases their anxiety. Not having regular food options, flight anxiety, and expenses are all stressors. As we keep mentioning, anxiety can affect your mood and your health.
Your immune system is also affected by anxiety. Dr. Yamis recommends using tools like deep breathing, yoga, prayer, journaling, and meditation to reduce stress. These activities can help you maintain a stable mood.
You don’t need to be physically or mentally fit to travel. It doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the adventures you want. These tips will help you to incorporate healthy moments into your trip – and you won’t feel guilty about visiting a beer garden.
